Animal-sediment interactions

Almost everywhere in the oceans animals affect sediments and they are in turn themselves affected by the sediment's character. The behavior of polychaetes, molluscs and crustaceans thus strongly affects biogeochemical fluxes, particularly at the sediment-water interface.

We address processes such as particle reworking, fluid transport, biodeposition, filter feeding, and bioresuspension.
